Petition Letter: Dear Sir/Madam
My name is Quan Yuan in the faculty of Computing. I am writing this appeal to ask for a remark for the CISC 124 course. I feel like that is potential unfair treatment towards me from the instructor, Professor McLeod. I had to write the final exam late was because of my medical issue that was carried from the 1st year of university, and I had waited for this appointment for quite some times. Since his past exams on CISC124 did not exceed 100 points in total, however the one I wrote was out of 120, and was given the same time, 3 hours to complete. In addition, the fact that the instructor failed me by 6 points, 6.5 points to be exact, feels like the instructor did not intend to pass me. In other words, in my opinion, it is very to penalize student just for 6.5 points out of a 120 points exam. I tried to talk with the instructor, and he seemed unwilling even though I said based on the final exam I demonstrated that I have learnt all the materials for this CISC 124 course. With all that given, I feel like that the instructor have the slightest concern for the students. Not to mention that this course is prerequisite of many other courses, and as a result I cannot take my original courses and therefore will extend my graduation date.
After I have discusses this issue with Dr. Bénard, it was suggested to take the appealing route. If you came to an agreement that it is reasonable for me to pass this course, then is it possible to have CISC 124 as a CR standing
Thank you for your time to consider and go through my appeal. I wish that the Arts and science department will consider from a students' point of view and solve this issue that I have encountered.
Cheers
Tony Yuan
