Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am appealing to drop HIST 106 (Winter, 2021) late. The reason for this appeal is due to mental health issues which have been intensified due to the pandemic along with the online nature of the year, which has prevented me from performing within this class. I did not drop this course earlier because of issues related to my mental health which made it difficult to accept that dropping it was the best course of action.

I have been working with my counsellor at Student Wellness to manage these mental health issues. It is difficult to say what I could adjust to succeed in the future, as a major factor in this appeal is the fact that the entire year has been online. Were it not for the pandemic, I cannot say where I would be academically. While my mental health issues existed before the pandemic, the pandemic and the online nature of the year has significantly worsened the situation.
