Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: In March of 2020, I suffered a debilitating concussion that is still affecting me to this day. I have seen numerous physicians, including doctors, physios, osteopaths, naturopaths, chiropractors, therapist, but have yet to come to a resolution. To this day, I am unable to complete most cognitive tasks and my school-work (or lack thereof) has reflected that. I am requesting to drop 3 courses and requesting aegrotat standing for another.

In the fall of 2020, I had 3 courses which were not 100 completed (PSYC 236, PSYC 397, PSYC 473).

for PSYC 236, I had completed all coursework bar 1 assignment worth 17.5. Since i completed both the final exam, quizzes as well as the other 3 assignments which were all related to assignment 1, I had shown my understanding of all the learning outcomes. Further, the 1 assignment that was not completed was the 3rd of the 4 assignments, where the 4th encapsulated all the knowledge required to complete the 3rd. I was in communications with professor salomons regarding making up the work but due to my condition I was unable to ever complete it.

For PSYC 397, I had completed 50 of the coursework and demonstrated my understanding of the learning outcomes, having completed the final exam. However, I am currently in communications with the Professor in regards to remedies as I believe that I showed understanding of the coursework.

For PSYC 473, I had not completed most of the work required to complete the course. I had been in communications with the professor regarding dropping the course. They stated that if I chose to do so, they would be in full support.

In the winter of 2021, I had 1 course which was not completed (PSYC 333)

For PSYC 333, I am requesting to drop the course due to the fact I am not able to complete the course. In this semester, I had already dropped 2 courses as I was not able to complete it, but continued with PSYC 333 in case my symptoms would get better. However, this has been shown not to be the case and so I am now requesting to drop the course.
