Petition Letter: To whom this may concern,

I am writing this appeal to request permission to add the course MUSC477. The course was originally scheduled for fall semester of this academic year in which I was enrolled but unfortunately the instructor had it postponed to the winter semester due to an illness.
This year my courses have been very unusual and I have needed permission to enrol in all my courses for winter semester due to my exchange. Technically my winter semester is my exchange semester but the semester in Germany, where I will be travelling, starts in April allowing me a full semester here at Queen's. MUSC477 tailors exactly to my needs abroad and provides me with a base of knowledge to be used in Germany. I will be studying ancient manuscripts and texts while away and having an understanding of how they are made, making the quill and ink is essential to appreciating what many people never have an opportunity to see.
I have spoken with the instructor who has given me explicit permission to take the course and said that I need the course in order to understand the manuscripts and great texts I will be studying. She has also told me that she will write me a letter of recommendation to visit the cathedrals and library's to gain access to the thousands of years old works while I am in Germany.
It is with great regret that I dropped the course before second semester because I thought I would not be able to handle course work in addition to preparing for exchange. I was very wrong with this and the amount of idle time I have is too much. Fortunately the amount of free time that I have has allowed me to catch up fully in the course. I have attended the lectures with the permission of the instructor and am completely up to date. I have the support and permission of my undergraduate chair, the professor of the course and I am completely caught up and able to complete all course work prior to my exchange. This course is only offered this year and is the most applicable course that can be offered to me. Although it is late, I would like to be added so I can appreciate the content and add this seminar to my transcript as I have confidence in my success in this course. The professor Dr Olga Malyshko advised me to state that she is willing to speak to anyone to allow me access in this course. If there are any questions they can be answered by her and she is reachable at the phone number she provided in her letter of permission.
