Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Appeal Letter: Dear Board of Studies,

I am writing a second-level appeal to provide more documentation and insight into my request for aegrotat standing grades. My health issues are ongoing and I am not at a level of functioning where I can complete my missed assessments at this time. My health journey has been continuously interrupted by long wait times between appointments and diagnostics, and I am still working with my doctors on my current treatment plan. I would have preferred to complete my examinations over the summer, but this exacerbation prevented me from being able to do so over the past months and currently. I have attached an off-campus note from my family doctor confirming my ongoing health issues, exacerbations that are continued, and debilitating symptoms. This documentation is in addition to my initial letter from my therapist detailing my mental health.

I am also doing my best to take care of my mental health as I go through these health struggles, especially after experiencing a traumatic event in May. During this event I witnessed an individual die. The traumatic stress from this event, combined with my ongoing health struggles, has greatly affected my productivity and capacity for academic work - this is an ongoing issue that has not been resolved. I am struggling with daily anxiety, compounded with anxiety from my chronic health issues. I am currently working on it through therapy. I am working to get back to a functional state but I am not there yet. I cannot estimate when I will be ok. I am asking for aegrotat standing grades so that I can show the work I am done for my courses.
