Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,

I noticed that for this course in particular it was very strange of how things were presented. I highly felt for the first assignment 01 I submitted that my grade was downgraded without much reason, I followed the formatting of appropriate and creative slides but was given a low grade. Anyhow, I continued to work on the course, and did well on the quizzes. I see that this course had a self-assessment due on June 21, 2021. I was having issues accessing and figuring out how to exactly work through it, it was also surprising that we still had assignments remaining and already were reflecting our final thoughts on the course. I reached out to the Head TA and my regular TA and got no responses of my concern about not being able to submit. I waited about 4 days until I reached out to the professor with only getting very short and rude responses. Further, I noticed onQ showed June 25, 2021 as the deadline for the Assignment 02, with 3 day grace period. I followed strictly the onQ concept and submitted during grace period. When I got my grade back, I saw that I was downgraded 2 grade levels and professor telling me deadline was something else? Why were tricks being played when clearly throughout the course whatever onQ showed as deadline we were stable with. I was surprised by the professors lack of understanding of how a B+ came down to a D+ and with the valid statements I was making. It was a terrible experience to not be given a chance to reflect my thoughts on a course (losing 15%) and then an assignment I did well on B+ to get a D+ on it. I seek justice for this and potentially if a CR is also a quick method, I can opt for that as well.
