Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello,

This is regards to courses I took at Athabasca University. Initially as someone who values education and with limited psychology courses I saw at Queen's or many of them being full, I in Winter 2021 applied to take courses at Athabasca University. I was given the LOP and it was easy to obtain as it is a Canadian University that had difficult level 300 courses with proctored exams that required lots of effort. At the time, from what I saw and how I was approved, I knew of the 42 credit transfer limit policy, I transferred 33 from York University as when I got into Queen's. I had 9 remaining which I initially was deciding to fill those in with courses at Athabasca. Once given the permission, I worked on two of the courses, I finished them with an A grade and B grade, I knew it was fully successful as I had everything and clearly on my letter it says, these courses must be accepted and 42 credit limit policy which I did not go over. It appears that out of the many appeals that I was dealing with, in mid-August I was told that issues with how it had a twist that out of the 42, apparently I can only have 12 credits for psychology courses. I was not aware of that email either and the major thing is I already completed the courses by then and having spent over 2500. One of the courses was then transferred but the entire plan and one other course I enrolled into at the time and already working on (3rd course) was now not being valued. I already budgeted myself enough and with lack of clarity or not being told especially with severely long delays in my appeals or where I can even check when I would possibly graduate. Because, if many of my other appeals were looked at earlier, if before Sept 20, I still would have set aside and enrolled into 2 psychology courses at Queens but I was given no responses or having delays in my other appeals and being shifted to different departments. I am also planning on graduating or finishing off my courses in December as if these 2 remaining courses get transferred, I not only which from what I saw 42 transfer credit limit is fine, I can apply for my graduate studies. I find this terrible that then I get told things like it was different department who approved or she probably forgot etc. I literally cannot keep staying semesters at Queen's over mistakes that are not mine or the lack of communication or extremely long delays. I had enough issues with other appeals and even if it wasn't working but processed quicker. Hope to get this resolved as i'm not sure with how a student who did heavy courses, only was told 42 transfer limit policy and only then told in August when those courses were processed that it doesn't make sense to not get the approval.
