Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

Atrial fibrillation is a condition affecting sinus rhythm, causing an irregular heartbeat. A-fib is comprised of varying degrees of severity from mild discomfort to what has been described to me as a uncontrollable heart attack. Over the past ten years my a-fib had progressively gotten worse, controlled only with beta blockers and anti arrhythmic drugs. Those same drugs are currently being used to treat PTSD due to their ability to not only fog but in some cases erase memory. I couldn't have made that up if i tried, but haven taken these drugs for years I totally believe it. Given my age, surprisingly young for such a condition and the debilitating affect the cocktail of drugs was having on my quality of life the cardiology staff recommended surgery, twice. During this time I failed to meet my academic commitment to Queens. Thus landing on academic probation. Its true I could have been more proactive in notifying the school of ongoing events. However at the time I was operating under the assumption, correctly I hope, that after the dust had settled some measure of understanding would be given. I can provide any verification the school wishes to see.

Therefor Im requesting to waive the 21-day appeal deadline, and be removed from academic probation. I ask this now because after a successful operation last year my heart is functioning normal, without medication. For the first time I will be able to pursue my studies at Queens unhindered, thats something I've wanted for a long time.
