Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dr Stephenson.

I am writing this appeal in hopes that I will be able to drop all my courses from this past fall semester.
I have been struggling with mental health issues namely anxiety and depression my whole life but these have been exasperated this last semester especially. There have been many factors contributing to this but mainly the worldwide Covid pandemic has meant that I have been put in a situation that has left me stranded far from home and the resulting support. I have been seeing a psychologist at Queens for almost a year now, however, this semester I found myself incapable of doing my schoolwork.

Mainly anxiety this semester made it impossible for me to even open Onq. I have not submitted any work for 3 of my courses the entire semester. I managed to complete 2 of my courses up until the midterms in late October but haven??t been able to do anything since then. I am currently at home right now in South Africa planning on taking the next semester off and working on my mental health, checking into a specialist clinic today as I submit this appeal. I will be gone for at least 2 weeks, possibly longer if deemed necessary, but I am working hard on trying to rectify my mental health.
I am hoping to return to Queens in the fall of 2022 with a renewed purpose and mental ability to complete my degree.
