Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Johanne Bénard
I am appealing to withdraw from GEOL 106 (winter 2015) late.
The extenuating circumstances beyond my control, which I have experienced, have been a sudden and powerful return of my anxiety and anxiety related depression. This return of my illness made me unable to attend many GEOL classes, and I quickly fell behind. As there was no information about the course online I was unable to catch up on my own. I asked that the material be made available to me in order to catch up but unfortunately no accommodations were made. I have sought help from both the counseling and disability services and have been advised by my disability services advisor to drop this course, as at this point it is impossible to catch up.
My plans for the future include regular meetings with my healthcare provider over the summer to ensure my mental illness does not impede my studies in the future.
