Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean (Academic),

I am appealing to drop MUTH 110 (Fall, 2021)

I am applying for a of appeal due to my extenuating circumstances that have caused me to perform poorly in MUTH 110. I have struggled with mental health (Anxiety & Depression) for most of my life, and for the past few months, it has been quite difficult for me. In the middle of October, I ran out of my antidepressants and am on the waitlist for various places but have had no luck so far. Due to a lack of motivation and a flipped sleep schedule, I have been unable to attend my classes, hand in assignments on time or show up for tests. It is no longer possible to pass the course as I have missed too much content. The steps I took to deal with my situation were that I sought help from student wellness and contacted all my professors. They were supportive and gave me extensions to catch up. However, my other classes, I have already taken in high school. Therefore, I have a chance of receiving my credits, unlike MUTH 110. I know this is extremely late into the semester to be asking for such a request, but unfortunately, it took me too long to realize I needed help and have now ended up in a predicament where I am not quite sure of what to do. If I study for and write the final exam for MUTH 110, I don??t think I will receive my other credits. To not have this situation occur again, I plan to receive proper help by attending therapy and getting my medication sorted out over the winter break.
