Petition Letter: To the Appeals Committee,

I am a recent hire at Queens University, I graduated with my bachelor of music from Queens in 2020 just as Covid hit and shut everything down (the first time). I started working for the DAN School of Drama and Music in September of this year. In September I thought that in my down time I would be able to take some history courses to learn from after work, I had enrolled in two history courses that I did my best to stay on top of. Unfortunately, I had underestimated my abilities to stay on top of the course work. Of course in September there were minimal assignments and projects, so I had no trouble keeping up with my new (and first) salary job, as well as class work. However, nearing exam season, when work became increasingly more busy now that I had become familiar with my role in the office, I was quickly realizing that to take on a new position in the University, to play a significant role as manager in two ensembles (the symphony orchestra and the cello orchestra) it was impossible to keep up with my course work as well.

As these courses are not part of a degree plan, they fell low on the priority list, I had tried to catch up, but as the workload for the courses were increasing, so were my responsibilities at the DAN School of Drama and Music.

Ideally, my poor performance in these courses would be avoided on my transcript under the exception that I have started a new position as staff at Queens, and that these courses are not related to a degree plan in any way.
