Dear Associate Dean (Studies),
I am appealing to drop IDIS 302, GNDS 375, GNDS 315 (Winter 2015) and SOCY 211, SOCY 227, DEVS 221 (Winter 2014). Due to trauma experienced while studying at Queen's I have found it difficult to focus on academics. This trauma caused mental health issues including a hospital stay and being diagnosed with Post- traumatic Stress Disorder. Prior to this time I was unable to find the appropriate mental health support and my academic performance was greatly impacted. My ability to concentrate, manage course work and attend classes was affected as a result of these traumatic events. My mental health symptoms severely hurt my abilities to achieve the mark I know I am capable of, however I am committed to staying at Queen's. I have found taking Gender Studies to be more suited towards my academic interests and I am planning on switching into this plan.

Prior to this issue I was always a strong student. This coupled with my tenacity and strong work ethic should assist me in the future as it has helped me be successful in the past. Having been stable and well adjusted in the past leads to me to anticipate that I will be well able to return to this school environment and once again be successful. Now having found appropriate counselling and mental health care I believe once again I will be able to achieve my academic goals.

I thank you in advance for your sincere consideration of this request/appeal.

Sincerely,

Molly Clark-Hurley
