Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am appealing the financial penalty imposed as a result of dropping BCHM 218 past the deadline. Our Fall 2021 class was involved in a large cheating situation during our final exam in December 2021 resulting in majority of the class having to rewrite the exam at a later date (JAN 21, 2022). I did not have to rewrite the exam, however, I did not receive my final grade until Friday Jan 27, 2022. Because I was not confident that I passed the course, I decided to retake the course as it is a prerequisite for third year Life Sciences. I had hoped that I would receive my grade before drop date of JAN 24, 2022. Results were released on Friday Jan 28, 2022. I now know I passed the course, and would like to drop BCHM 218 without financial penalty.

I believe this was an unusual academic event. None of what has happened has been caused by me, yet it has had a great impact on my academic plan. Please consider my appeal.
