Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean of Studies,
My name is Bingyi Lin and my student number is 20153906. I am a third-year Con-ed student majoring in psychology. I have been struggling with my mental health during the past few weeks, I was not sleeping or eating almost at all, therefore I was not in the clearest and healthiest state to make the brightest decision. After revisiting my decision, I have felt like it may not be the best fit for me right now because I still feel deeply unmotivated and hopeless about what the semester is going to be like. I have also tried to seek help from multiple professional counsellors on campus from Student Wellness Services, as well as Support Services. Therefore, I am applying for this academic appeal to add the class PSYC336 back to my schedule and drop PSYC570 at the same time. Therefore, I would still maintain a reasonable workload of 5 classes. I will also monitor my mental health and my academics during the next few weeks and prior to the March 4th drop deadline, I will make a decision as to whether remaining in this course (or others) is a good academic decision and if not, I will drop courses by that deadline. I believe that I will have a better answer as I continue to get help from professional counselling.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: As for PSYC336, I have been keeping up with the course and attending lectures via zoom over the past 2 weeks. I have also caught up with the lectures from the first two weeks by going through the lecture PowerPoint myself. I have also reached out to the instructor and TAs about making up for the missed lectures, and I am still waiting to hear back from them. Meanwhile, I have reached out to one of my classmates who is also in the class to help me catch up on the material. In addition, there has not been any assignment overdue in this course, so I did not really miss anything up until this point. If I can get back into the course, my intended plan would be to drop PSYC570 to maintain a reasonable workload of 5 classes. If I do not get back into the course, then I will keep my schedule as it is right now with a workload of 5 classes. To improve and maintain my mental health condition, I am going to commit to regular counselling sessions throughout the semester.
