Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am a mature student and also a single mother of a daughter with autism and significant medical issues. In 2012 my daughter's medical needs increased and by the Fall of 2013, her care was transferred to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. She was unable to attend school and subsequently had to have a home tutor provided by the board. During the school year of 2014, I had to make several trips to Sick Kids for my daughter's care and also seek funding to pay for the trips and her medical needs. After multiple appointments throughout the summer of 2014, I received diagnostic information on September 9th that was extremely upsetting. My daughter had to begin intensive physio therapy and have ongoing testing in both Kingston and Toronto. With the travel and medical care involved for my daughter, I was unable to apply for the appeal within the deadline period.
