Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this academic appeal regarding dropping ASTR 101 from my academic transcript. I am applying to masters?? programs in the upcoming months, and I am hoping to get this grade removed from my transcript to boost my GPA.
During the Fall 2021 semester I struggle a lot with my mental health, I had many ups and downs, and this had directly affected my schoolwork. Last semester I had the worst academic semester of my years at Queen??s due to my increase in anxiety. During this time, I found it very difficult to deal with my course work as it created a lot more stress than anticipated. I did not drop the course in the original time frame because I believed that I could persevere. After I realized that I was close to failing the course, I emailed my professor to see if there was a way that I could resubmit assignments and to see how I could pass the course, but I got no response. I decided to start studying for my exam a month prior, during that time my anxiety was at an all-time high and I found it extremely difficult to concentrate and accomplish anything. I felt like doing anything was debilitating. During that time, I booked a session with my therapist to help me rationalize my thoughts and feelings, which helped me a lot.
For this semester, I have reduced my course load to two. As well, I am consistently taking my medication, and gradually working on my mental health.
