Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,

I am appealing to have these three courses dropped after the deadline due to circumstances surrounding virtual learning as well as my mental health. I had significant challenges continuing with virtual learning in January and February and it severely impacted my ability to retain course content and complete assignments. As a result of this, I fell significantly behind in my courses and was overwhelmed by the amount of work that would be required to complete the semester. I dropped two courses because of this by March 4th in hopes of easing the workload, but I was plagued by severe depressive episodes and was struggling immensely with self-disciplining and motivating myself. I had very little confidence in the work that I was doing and frankly struggled to do much of anything. I am currently meeting with a counsellor to figure out if a change needs to be made in my program or perhaps even universities. I truly feel as if this was a regular semester I would have been much better prepared, and maybe would have been able to avoid falling behind and harm to my mental health. It would be ideal if I was able to drop these courses because I know I'm way more capable than what I've been able to accomplish this semester.

Sincerely,
Max Mirkin
