Petition Letter: Hello,
I am appealing to drop courses GRMN 101 and PHIL 256, the former which I took in the period Fall 2021 and the latter Winter 2022. I request these courses to be dropped due to severe mental health issues I was dealing with including severe depression and self-harm as well as a host of other issues. I do not believe that these courses and this year at all is reflection of my true capabilities and performance. The transition to second year was extremely difficult for me and I had many other personal issues I was dealing with at the time which led to a collapse in my overall GPA. I am seeing a doctor and psychiatrist now to help myself as well as seeing a counsellor every week through the university's mental health services. Though I am committed to doing all this, it is a long and difficult process and I still find myself slipping at times. I took a decreased amount of courses this term and even so I had to drop out of several of them due to things I was going through. I would like to drop PHIL 256 because there is no way I would be able to pass the class even at this stage. For GRMN 101 I have already failed the course and believe that it is overall a blemish on my otherwise decent GPA.
I hope that this explanation was sufficient and that there is some sympathy to my case. If needed I could provide a letter from my doctor backing up my case.
Thank you,
Ethan Nguyen
