Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
After making several attempts to complete the outstanding material for POLS 458 and consultation with academic advising. I have come to the conclusion it is in my best interest to appeal this grade and apply for AG standing, formally. In other words, I would like to continue the process of appeals for Appeal 8478 which was abandoned in December because I was offered an initial extension by Professor Larin. I reached out to the appeals office to reinstate appeal 8478 and it was recommended that I begin the process over.
I was able to complete one of two outstanding 750-1000 word assignments and under Professor Larin's instructions, I have submitted multiple ungraded outlines at his request - outlines that surpass the 750 words in length that he is to grade. I have had multiple conversations with Professor Larin, but unfortunately, he has not accepted any of the ungraded material he has made mandatory and requested of me for this final paper. I have completed all other course material to the best of my abilities and I believe I have the marks already to pass this course with AG standing without submitting this final paper.
I have struggled to find a way to please Professor Larin's expectations for this final paper and with a full course load this semester, the time I have been taking to try and frustratedly write this last paper has seriously impacted my already overburdened ability to focus and complete all the course work I have assigned this semester.
Succinctly, I need to receive this credit in order to graduate at the end of this semester, it is the only thing that seriously stands between me and convocation. I have done all the work I am capable of and tried my very best to make a coherent plan with Professor Larin. I am hoping I may move on from this, and have my anxieties relieved this semester in order to finish my courses with strength.
I initially was unable to complete the course material on time because I was very sick for about a month with sinusitis around the end of November and the beginning of December. It began as a flu virus, and eventually became sinusitis for which I went to the hospital. I was seriously ill and unable to attend classes at that time which caused me to miss two important deadlines for POLS 458, in being accommodated by professor Larin I was able to submit one of the two outstanding papers, but as I outlined above I am spread thin this semester and unable to complete this final assignment. This outstanding grade is causing a lot of anxiety and causing my chronic illness to flare up. The more I worry and struggle with this the more my body fights me.
I encourage you to consult the file for appeal 8478 in case I missed anything, so you can get a more full picture of this situation. I am hoping together we can come to a positive conclusion.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Warm Regards,
Sara Gray.
