Petition Letter: I am writing this appeal letter to drop Software Specifications after the academic penalty deadline because my overall wellbeing for the past month and a half has been terrible, in a physical sense and emotional/mental sense.
I am in a position right now that I see myself maybe passing the course with over a 50, but earning the 60% or higher needed to earn the prerequisite credit for future courses seems like a moonshot. I have missed over a month of classes due to 2 separate, 2 week long illnesses, which were both fevers/respiratory sicknesses that made it difficult for me to even have my head up right. I did my best to submit assessments by their due dates, but the quality of my work drastically declined, and it became harder and harder to catch up and write assignments properly with up to date knowledge of the material after falling so far behind. Where I screwed up is not utilizing the school's accommodations better, but each time I felt like because I was still handing in assignments, I would be able to catch up later. That being said, I have an exam for this class in just over a week, and I have not learned material from the course in well over a month, and I simply do not see this resulting in anything but an F on my transcript.
I am taking the year of from school next year to focus on mental and physical health, to seek therapy and surgeries for my knee, and to take the opportunity to self study in lieu of the university format of learning. If I do want to come back one day, I will want to retake this course regardless, as I need it for upper year courses. Therefore, my thinking is that I would rather have an incomplete on my transcript, instead of an F, either case needing a retake of the course.
I am at my wits end with school. Long brewing frustrations and bad anxiety, added to my month of missed classes due to illness, makes me really want to drop this course, so I can best focus on my remaining exam and earn the credits I can, should I want to return to studies.
I hope you understand where I am coming from. If this is better suited for an aegrotat appeal please let me know.
Note: I do not have documentation, but the first illness brought me to the ER, and the second I went to a clinic, and I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday.
Regards,
Elijah James 20177630
