Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is Fanshi Meng and my student number is 20114847.

I??m a fourth year student majored in Applied Economics. I??m writing in hope of appealing the rule that only allows students to take a maximum of 6.0 units away during 3rd or 4th year of their Honours degree.?

I??m currently enrolled in four courses in Queen??s, and I need another 9.0 units of Arts and Science elective to graduate this semester. In addition to the 6 units courses (Introductory Japanese I and US History) of my current ilop, I also registered in another course (Introduction to Sociology) offered by the same university (Huazhong University of Science & Technology). Although when I initially requested the ilop, I did not have Sociology on my request list. But I'm taking these three classes simultaneously, and the credits will be transferred to Queen??s at the same time. And I want to request an updated International Letter of Permission at the moment since I??ve enrolled in one more course(Sociology).

I understand that students are only allowed to take a maximum of 6.0 units away during 3rd or 4th year of their Honours degree, and that??s why I??m writing this letter to request permission for taking courses more than 6 units this semester so that I can have my International Letter of Permission updated.

I??m sorry to bother you in the working day. It is really important for me to graduate in this spring semester.? Because I have applied to and received an offer from graduate schools, and my graduate program begins in the fall of 2022. I'm required to submit my graduation certificate to my graduate schools by August, as this is the only way for me to enroll in a graduate program in September 2022.

Additionally, these three courses are all fundamental courses, and I'm simply enrolling in them as electives, which are equivalent to Queen's University's 100-level courses. These three courses cover things that interest me and are not too difficult for me, so they will not be a burden for me, and I can guarantee you that I will successfully complete these courses.

Enrolling in my dream graduate school means everything to me I??ve worked extremely hard to gain admission to my dream graduate school, and I've finally received an offer. I am unable to postpone graduation because I am an international student and my family is unable to fund this portion of the costs. I've already paid the deposit, which is quite expensive, and my family is no longer able to afford it.? I can't afford to miss this semester's graduation I need to graduate this semester in order to enroll in graduate school successfully.? I desperately need your help right now; could you please give me permission for taking courses more than 6 units this semester through another university?
