Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am submitting an appeal to request to drop a course past the deadline without academic penalty, the course I am trying to drop is POLS244. Due to my disability I struggled to balance 5 courses this semester, this resulted in missing classes, quizzes, assignments and needing extensions. POLS244 is set up that your final mark only reflects 3 assignments marks and a final exam. Due to my disability I was not able to complete these assignments to the best of my abilities resulting in poor grades. My disability causes me to become anxious surrounding assignments worth a lot in which results in overthinking. I was unable to attend a majority of the tutorials due to my disability, as I wasn't able to physical go to class or feel well enough to attend. My disability effects my mood, resulting in a poor mood in which makes everyday tasks difficult sometimes. As well as participate. Without being able to attend/participate tutorials it affected my understanding of the course content. Due to this, it negatively affected my grade. I am requesting to drop the course, that way I can take another course through the summer to make up the units. By only having to focus on one course it'll allow me to complete the course to the best of my abilities.
