Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
My name is Chelsea Lee (20123798), and I am a third-year student here at Queen'sQueen's. I am writing to appeal for aegrotat(AG) standing and to drop classes from the past year as the severity of my neurodivergence has caused extreme detriment to my learning ability. The constant switch between online and offline courses has proven extremely difficult to maintain a consistent learning environment and has caused the onset of anxiety and depression episodes. As a result, I had to take a 2-month academic leave. However, due to being unable to complete assignments, I have received Fs and incomplete grades for courses, even though the individual assignments that were submitted were performing decently and despite putting in my best effort to manage my mental health with professionals and medication. I have attached documentation from my therapist, who I have been seeing for the past year, to support this.
As my academic performance this year has been detrimental due to unforeseen and health issues out of my control, I would like to appeal for an AG standing for the following courses in the Fall term: CISC223, FILM240.
If the courses listed above could not apply to an AG standing, I would like to drop from those classes as it has severely impacted my GPA.
In the Winter semester, I took a reduced course load of two courses to manage my academics better due to last semester's failures. However, a discriminatory incident with a professor triggered an ongoing psychotic episode; the severity of my anxiety and depression made me unable to complete the rest of my assignments for this term. The report for this incident has been attached.
Thus, I would like to appeal to drop from the courses I've enrolled in the past year.
FALL 2021: FILM340
WINTER 2022: GPHY229
I hope you can understand my predicament.
Best wishes,
Chelsea Lee
