Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Earlier this year I was diagnosed with depression and was unable to complete my courses due to my circumstances, therefore I applied for late drop and it was approved. I have been working with my family doctor, my therapist and my family in order to get back on track to where I once was. In attempting to receive treatment there were some complications with my old family doctor and it took longer than anticipated to receive the proper help that was needed. This semester I lightened my workload in order to assist with my circumstances, however things took a turn for the worst when my medication amplified some of my symptoms. This was overwhelmingly difficult and I quickly fell very far behind in two of my courses, I was unable to attend most of my classes as it was difficult to get out of bed in the morning or even leave my house at all. Once I realized how serious this issue was I contacted my doctor and received the correct dosage of my medication, while this was only recently I already feel a change in my motivation. In order to stay on track as well as succeed in the future I am continuing therapy and am receiving CBT for my ADHD that has helped. While this year has not been easy and my academic potential was hidden I am confident that this will never happen again as I have found the correct support as well as resources to manage it.
