Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear faculty,
Throughout the fall/winter term, I have suffered an excruciating amount of mental health issues that deteriorated both my academic and social experience at queens. In mid-January, it was revealed that I had developed BPD as well as a possible anxiety disorder due to the amount of pressure I was putting on myself. I became horribly depressed, which would cause me to partake in self-harm and suicide rampages lasting from days to a couple of weeks. I completely lost myself during the winter term and was behind most of my classes for 4-6 weeks. I also accumulated social anxiety when attending classes, to which I have not attended since fall-term. This type of anxiety would cause me to pee in my dorm room, go weeks without showering, as well as avoid any additional physical human interaction. I was later forced to apply for QSAS to receive extensions for the classes that I was failing. Through these circumstances, many of my classes were lenient when trying to help me catch up. However, the classes I attempt to drop out of are almost impossible to complete or catch up on. I will be attempting to take these courses back in the summer, but I am solely just trying to fix my life from a broken place. Please understand.
