Petition Letter
Petition Letter: My name is Mikaela Young-Gayle, I am a first year going to second year arts student, and I am writing this email to expectantly appeal my final grade for PSYCH 100 and SPAN 002. The reasoning behind the appeal request is
Due to my low GPA score, there is a possibility of getting withdrawn from my program. Queen??s said that getting withdrawn from my program is required due to mental health reasonings and to get me back on track but I can assure you that my mental health is 100% completely fine. Furthermore, due to my low academic grade standings, a lot of pressure was put onto me within my first year at Queens. Alongside with the pressure, the covid pandemic made my learning more difficult especially in term 2. I did not even return to school right away when classes returned in person. The transition was a lot for me and in addition to a break in situation that occurred during exam season, term 2 was the most difficult for me academically wise. I had spoken to the dean about any accommodations that could have been made for my final exams and he told me to reach out to my profs who were little to no help at all. Moreover, I am a student that deserves to stay at Queens for second year even though my GPA is lower than expected and I will strive to do better. I am already taking summer school courses and I already have tutors on call for any troubling classes this upcoming September, in addition to talking to upper year students asking them for tips and advisors on the administrative team. I ask to drop this course mark so I can receive a credit standing so I can work towards raising my GPA. Please give me the chance to prove to you that I am worth staying, this year was not a regular school year and I know it is no excuse but I truly can raise my GPA if you give me the chance to return and show you. taking a year off isn't ideal for me or my family, I have set plans that will help me strive tremendously and get my GPA up in no time as im not extremely far off from exceptions. please give me this chance as I know I am worth staying and being a queens student
Please let me know if this is possible,
Thanks,
Mikaela young-gayle
