Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am currently trying to register for the BCHM 218 course which runs over the summer 2022 term in order to fix an error in my application to the DVM program at the Ontario Veterinary Collage in Guelph, Ontario. I first has to receive confirmation that this course (BCHM 218) would meet the 'biochemistry' requirement at Guelph and would be acceptable on my application. I was then told that, since I am now pursuing a Masters degree at Queen's (although I completed my undergrad here as well) that I needed to submit a return to studies from in order to take the class. To prevent confusion, I contacted the course instructor Dr. Staalduinen to confirm that I would be acceptable if I joined the course late (to which she replied that it would not be a problem). I then submitted by return to studies form detailing that I would like to be enrolled in the BCHM 218 course over the summer 2022 term, and recieved a reply that the course could not be added due to a block placed on my student account. I later discovered that the block had been placed due to a late tuition payment. When I contacted the university registrars office regarding the block and whether it could be removed temporarily to add the course before the deadline, I was told that I needed to provide proof of payment in full (ie a receipt). If this was submitted, then they could temporarily remove the block so the course could be added (until my actual payment was recieved in 2-5 business days). I did this on Friday May 20th , cc'ing both the Faculty of Arts and Science and solus@queensu.ca. I just received a reply today saying that now the deadline has passed and I must submit an academic appeal in order to add the course, as well as it will take 2-4 business days to process the payment (and I assume the block which I was told would be removed as soon as I provided evidence of payment)

I have been trying to figure out how to take this course for the previous few months and so far have been getting the run around. The course in in my shopping cart on SOLUS, and I have permission from both my supervisor and the course instructor to take it so I do not quite understand why this process has been so difficult. Trying to coordinate between the 2 academic institutions and the different departments within Queen's has proved extremely difficult and strenuous to me. I have done just about everything I can do register for this course but seem to be met with challenge after challenge. If I could please just have the courses added ASAP then I can correct all the issues with my previous application to the DVM program. This is obviously a time sensitive issue as I do not want to fall behind in the course.
