Petition Letter: My name is Valerie Victoria, a second year student going into my third year at Queens. I am submitting this appeal in hopes of dropping the ANAT316 course from my Winter22 transcript. I am currently working with councillors at Queens university as well as physicians in hopes of receiving a diagnosis for a suspected learning disability, as well as several mental health illnesses. I am working towards building better academic habits and feel that this final grade is not representative of the student I can be. This course was more difficult than anticipated and I did not realize the required time commitment prior to beginning the course. Though I feel I learned a lot from it, I was unsuccessful in completing the course.
Moving forward, I hope that I am able to retake this course in the upcoming academic year, hopefully having built habits and strategies to aid in my success as a student. I hope that the mental health resources available to me lead to my better understanding of the issues I am currently experiencing, such as mental health illnesses, that have hindered my ability to perform as well as I know I can. I want to be proud of the work I submit and the evaluations I am presented with but I know I cannot do this until further work is done in my personal life. Thank you for considering this appeal.
