Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
My name is Yue Qian and my student number is 20216593. I'm appealing to drop MATH280 (Fall, 2021), MATH231 (Fall, 2021), MATH210 (Winter, 2022), and MATH281 (Winter, 2022), and apply for credit standing in STAT268 (Fall, 2021) and STAT269 (Winter, 2022).
The reason I appeal to drop MATH280 (Fall, 2021), MATH231 (Fall, 2021), MATH210 (Winter, 2022), and MATH281 (Winter, 2022) and apply for credit standing in STAT268 (Fall, 2021) and STAT269 (Winter, 2022) is that I failed in the MATH280 (Fall, 2021), MATH231 (Fall, 2021), MATH210 (Winter, 2022) and MATH281 (Winter, 2022) and got a low grade in STAT268 (Fall, 2021) and STAT269 (Winter, 2022). The circumstances for me in both fall and winter terms were that my mental health was in a horrible direction, which made me have a hard time attending class during the day and even influenced my life. Starting from October, I had the mind of killing and hurting myself, so I found Laurie, the crisis counselor in the student wellness center for help. We worked hard to make my situation better by adjusting the sleeping schedule, trying to control the idea of hurting myself and other dangerous thoughts. Fortunately, we did achieve some success before Christmas, and I started to live in a regular way. However, the circumstance during these two terms do affect my study deeply, so it reflected in my grade for failing to pass the courses and getting low grades.
For the future plan of my study, I'm trying my best to connect with people around me not only in the student wellness to help me transit to university life. I will keep meeting with doctors and QSAS to find medication and professional suggestions that could help move forward. Especially I found that dropping MATH280 (Fall, 2021), MATH231 (Fall, 2021), MATH210 (Winter, 2022), and MATH281 (Winter, 2022), and applying for credit standing in STAT268 (Fall, 2021) and STAT269 (Winter, 2022) will help me reduce the pressure on having a low GPA, which will make my emotion keep calm and better for me to balance life and study time.
For all those discussions and considerations, I decided to drop MATH280 (Fall, 2021), MATH231 (Fall, 2021), MATH210 (Winter, 2022), and MATH281 (Winter, 2022), and apply for credit standing in STAT268 (Fall, 2021) and STAT269 (Winter, 2022), and I will continue to find the best way to get success in both study and life. Thanks so much for considering my request.
Sincerely,
Yue Qian
