Appeal Letter: Dear Board of Studies,
I am appealing the Associate Dean??s decision to deny my appeal to credit standing Math211(fall/winter 2021/2022).
I have carefully read the Associate Dean??s decision letter, and I completely understand that the reason why the Associate Dean denied my request. However, I believe there are some misunderstandings that I need to explain. I started to review Math211 about two weeks before the final exam (April 18th), because I knew that I don??t quite understand some concepts and not familiar with methods in this course. Before the car accident happened on my father, I put all my efforts on reviewing and practicing math211, I wish I could take this chance to improve my grade and have a good ending in my university life. Unfortunately, when I heard that my father was in ICU due to car accident (April 14th), I felt that my life was broken, and I don??t know what to do next. I booked a flight immediately after my final exam, and hoping this will comfort me a little, but it didn??t work. When I was reviewing, my brain was completely out of control, it just keeps thinking on something I should not think. I slept 3 to 5 times a day, for each time it won??t longer than 2 hours, then I woke up suddenly with sweat on my shirt. I have experienced this situation for 4 days. Then I went to the final exam. I wish you could understand how serious this thing to me and the impact on my final grade. Moreover, the final exam of math211 weight 40%, so, I think the final exam??s grade will have significant effect on final grade, I have tried my best on this final exam, if there is no such circumstance occurred, I will take what I get and I will be regret and complained. However, I feel that the accident happened was really beyond my control, I knew that I could have done much better, and I still have final exam to improve my grade in this course, but the accident stopped me. This is my main reason why I decided to appeal again.
