Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am currently enrolled in the biochemistry honours program and I was made known that there was a gpa requirement for the fourth year courses. I knew I was on the cusp for the grade, but I thought someone was going to email me if I wasn't in good academic standings for graduation. I checked solus and it clearly stated that I was in good academic standing and my course planner stated the same too. Unsatisfied I decided to email the head of our department and he told me that I was 0.07 off of the required gpa (2.43 instead of 2.5) and that I was too late to apply to BCHM 218. Due to this I had a zoom call and realized that I will not be able to graduate in 2023 as projected if I can not enter into this BCHM 218 summer course and receive a better grade. I thought that I would be notified because I was not in the standings for graduation but because of negligence I now have to spend more on a 5th year if I can't be allowed into the class.
