Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

Thank you for taking the time to read my appeal. I hope you are having an enjoyable summer and that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. I recently was approved for an appeal to drop a class from my transcript given certain circumstances such as a death in my immediate family, and being diagnosed with chronic depression, anxiety and ADHD which I have written documentation from my health care practitioner. Upon reviewal of the documentation and further discussion with my Academic Advisor Deb, it has come to my attention that the three courses that I am currently applying to be dropped also fall within the time frame. I was unsure if I would have my documentation ready, which is why I was unsure and unable to drop the classes sooner. Furthermore, I was unable to drop the classes during the 7-week mark due to my circumstances further debilitating me.

I am currently doing much better in my academics as I have now started using SASS, Academic Advising and Academic Success Services. I have attached a copy of my current grades for my current summer class that is coming to a conclusion next week to demonstrate progress in my academic plan.
