Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing to appeal the Faculty??s decision that I must withdraw from Queen??s for a minimum of one year, as well as dropping ENGL 234, ENGL 273, ENGL 276, HIST 223, HIST 253, HIST 228 and HIST 416.

I was unable to succeed this year due to a number of immediate family members?? deaths, first my grandmother from my mother??s side in October 2021 suddenly to late stage intestinal cancer. Then, my grandfather from my father??s side died due to a pre-existing illness COPD which largely contributed to his death in March 2022. My grandfather??s death was a lot harder on me as I was still trying to heal from my grandmother??s sudden death and because he was the person who raised me as a child until my adulthood as my parents were fairly absent. These circumstances absolutely aggravated my pre-existing mental illnesses that I am still learning to cope with and work along with my doctor through the school, Dr. Lee, and my counselor that I have been seeing on a regular basis for over a year, Solita Hoogendam.
