Petition Letter
Petition Letter: My name is DongEun Lee and I am a visiting student from Canadian Mennonite University(Studying Music therapy), Winnipeg Manitoba. I was going to drop this course in advance because I knew last month that I wouldn't be able to pass this course, but my laptop was completely broken down so I couldn't request the course drop earlier, so I'm writing an appeal letter now. I am a mother of two children and I usually do not allow my children to use my laptop. But last month, my 7-year-old boy used my laptop and downloaded games without my permission. Although he is young, he is very good at computers. Since then, my computer has been infected with a virus, and I haven't been able to start my laptop and access Google Chrome and Firefox for about 10 days before I fixed it. So, for that reason, I couldn't request a course drop at the end of last month.
Also, I haven't been able to take two exams I've had so far. For the first test, I couldn't open the test paper(monitor), so I asked IT assistant for help, but I didn't get help on time, and in the end I couldn't take the test because of the time limit. I requested a re-exam, but for the same reason, I was unable to take the test. During the second test, my child was ill and had to stay at home with me. It was quite distracted to me and I couldn't concentrate on the exam and my internet connection wasn't good, but I was physically or mentally exhausted so I couldn't do anything on improving my internet connection and quality. So, the second test failed. I had an assignment to record a presentation (I researched the digestive system in human body) and submit a PDF file, which I thought was well submitted at the right time and in the right place. But later I found out that I got 0 points. The reason was that I didn't submit the assignment. I was very frustrated and couldn't figure out what mistakes I had made. For these reasons,I thought I couldn't pass this course, so I wanted to drop it in advance, but I couldn't access the ANAT 100 Homepage and Queen's OnQ website at the end of last month, so I couldn't even request a course drop. I hope these reasons can be a sufficient explanation for the appeal to you.
