Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,

I want to drop this class because I changed my degree and no longer need to take calculus. The reason for this choice was my great-grandad's death in July, which got my family and me in severe emotional pain, he was diagnosed with brain cancer, therefore I want to transfer into Cognitive Science. Before his death, I was already struggling to deal with him being super ill and 8,000 kilometres away, my two full-time and school certainly haven't been helpful during this period. I'm trying to talk to the professor to see my options available, but I'm scared to fail this class as I've already failed it once. I don't want to be asked to leave the University. Queen's has been my dream school since a little kid, my great-great-great-great-grandad George Grant was the first principal, which Grant Hall is named after, and I don't want to embarrass my family in this long tradition.
Please let me know if there's anything I can do, I'm scared.
