Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am appealing to have two failed courses (HIST301 and HIST260) dropped. My father committed suicide on December 30th. He went missing for 12 hours and I was the one who found his car on the side of the road at night. Because of this traumatic event I decided to take 3 courses instead of 5 in hopes that I could find the courage to complete the year. This commitment was too much for my mental state and it resulted in two failed courses. My father was my whole support system. The minute I received an assignment I would call him and go on for an hour about all of my ideas and where he thought I should start. He was also the person who taught me everything from guitar to painting and without being able to continue taking pleasure in these hobbies my mental health declined even further. I didn??t know how to continue on without the main pillar in my life and it resulted in two failed courses that were beyond my control. I have been referred for psychological therapy and will receive support to ensure I can complete my fourth year of study to the best of my abilities. These two failed courses on my transcript are creating further mental anguish on top of my grieving.
