Petition Letter

Petition Letter: 16/09/2022

To whom it may concern,

My name is Charles Mackinnon (Student : 20091609), I am in my fifth year at Queens in a Bachelor of Arts degree. I am writing this letter today asking you to remove the failed courses from my record and allow me to take courses at the University of Calgary as a visiting student that will count towards my econ degree at Queens.

I was diagnosed with MDD (Major Depressive Disorder) and PDD (Persistent Depressive Disorder this year. I have been struggling with depression and suicidal episodes throughout my time at Queens??. However, it did not truly begin to destroy my ability to function as a university student until the pandemic. I truly regret not having the energy or motivation to request help from this university earlier, but I am hoping that you can accept this extenuating circumstance as valid reasoning to approve my requests. I am now taking two medications and working with doctors, psychologists, etc. to address my mental health struggles. I am feeling more in control now and would like to finish my degree to the best of my ability. I will be including a note from my current GP, validating my prognosis and its applicability to my situation.

I hope at the very least, this letter is proof enough to warrant a face-to-face conversation (via zoom or some other online platform) if further discussion is deemed necessary. I thank you for your time and consideration. Please get back to me at your earliest convenience.
