Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I request a formal appeal of assignment 1 (Module 4) for PSYC 241 as my grade is not justified with any feedback. I had initially asked for a re-grading from my instructor as I was given a D+. Though she allowed a re-grading, the second TA who marked my paper did the same thing as the first one, except she lowered my grade to a D. Again, no helpful feedback was given. Both TAs contradicted my points, claiming they were wrong when they were not. All my information came from my understanding of the course material, and their feedback went against the course material (textbook and lectures). Clearly, my graders had less knowledge of the course material and were marking based on their opinion, which constitutes bias. Additionally, I followed what the rubric had said for this assignment.

This kind of bias and grading behaviour has caused a psychological challenge for me. I am now worried about passing this class, and the stress caused by PSYC 241 makes it incredibly difficult to focus on the other four courses I am taking. I spoke with Dr. Norris (Undergraduate chair in Psychology), who recommended I request a formal appeal for my assignment grade. She is aware of my entire situation and has all my information, including the back-and-forth emails between me and Dr. O'Connor (My instructor). Thank you.
