Petition Letter: Dear Committee,
I am writing to request an appeal for my drop date on my CISC 221 (Computer Architecture) course this fall.
I missed the deadline for reasons of anxiety and mental health. Over the past few weeks, I have had a significant buildup of pressure that has affected my mental state, that has debilitated me altogether for the past week or so.
Over the past 2 years I have had intermittent issues with my mental health, starting during the pandemic and continuing since. I have had ongoing support for these issues at home in Ottawa, and went home recently to re-engage that support, but I am still struggling. One of the things that my support network recently suggested is to drop at least one of my courses, so that I can get through the semester. I recognize that this is the right thing to do.
It's just the best thing for my psychological condition to drop it now, so I can stabilize and manage my anxiety through the rest of this term.
Thank you for your consideration of my situation.
