New Information: On October 29, 2022, my grandmother Stella Roy passed away due to a blood infection. Her sickness had been ongoing for quite a while, which is something that had further increased my anxiety levels during the school year. Before my midterm, is when my grandmother fell very ill and had to be hospitalized. This badly affected my mark in Italian being that it is my only class in which I must study for and in-person test, which is part of a big chunk of my grade. I ended up getting a 41% on my midterm. There were no extenuating circumstances to which I could ask for an extension, so I took the midterm, knowing I would do bad. My second Italian test was November second, 3 days after my grandmothers' death. I could not attend her funeral because I had to show up for my test. I took the test because pushing it farther away would only cause more stress and anxiety for me and my family. Likewise, I finished the test with a 58%, another grade barely passing. Keep in mind that before the stress of my grandmothers' illness, I had an 86% in my Italian class. I could not concentrate and don't think I should by any circumstance have been expected to. It is rational to have reacted to the situation in the way I did.

Furthermore, in this time of crisis, I dropped Italian before the deadline and had planned to pick up another course. Every course that I planned on picking up was either not in my program or did not fit my schedule. As an OSAP student, I wad told that maintaining a balance of 4 course was what students were considered to be as full-time. I ended up having to stressfully pick up Italian again, but received a different professor and different times, which further heightened my stress.

Over the summer, if I do have the opportunity to drop Italian, I would take a new elective to replace Italian. I don't believe it to be fair for my GPA to drop, simply because of a major life event that came at the wrong time. I could not sleep, could barely eat, and barely study, especially for in-person tests, which unlike my other classes, Italian had. If given the chance, I will redeem myself and regain a threshold on my grades. I just need to be given a chance.
