Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

My name is Cristina Raviele. Student number 20173358. I attended Queen's University from Fall 2019-Winter 2020. I transferred from Queen's University to the University of Toronto for the Fall 2020 semester, and the remainder of my undergrad. I completed one year at Queen's University, and had paid my full residence and tuition fees before finishing the semester. I am currently in my fourth year at UofT, and recently received an email stating I have overdue debt for course enrolment. After further inquiry, it has come to my attention that I had been enrolled in two biology courses, BIOL205 and BIOL243, for the Fall 2021 semester. I had not enrolled in these courses, given I had already been at UofT for a whole year, and did not access my SOLUS account after transferring out. After corresponding with the Faculty of Arts and Science Appeals Office, they informed me that this error was likely due to the Biology department pre-enrolling me in these courses, not knowing I was at another school. I also have been informed that I received an F in both courses, given I did not attend nor complete any work, as I was at another University. In order to rectify this situation, and avoid my overdue debt going to collections, I was told I first need to appeal to my faculty for a backdated drop, then if successful, I can appeal for the tuition fee amendment. I hope my situation is clear, I believe I followed the proper steps in transferring from Universities. I followed the OUAC steps, and requested from Queen's that my credits be transferred. Also, the end of my first year was the beginning of the pandemic. The University cancelled in-person classes and closed residences for the remaining month of the Winter 2020 semester. My peers all received a credit on their student cards for dining, to account for the month spent at home, not using dining services at Queens. I had requested the refund as well, but was informed that since I would not be returning to Queens, I was not eligible for the COVID refund. All of these circumstances led me to believe I had successfully transferred out of Queens. I apologize if I had missed a step, but hope to be granted this appeal, as I did not enrol for these courses. If further investigation is needed, I can guarantee that I had not accessed my SOLUS account in the last 2 years. This situation has led me to reset my account, giving me access for the first time since 2020. I hope this helps show I did not register for any courses.
