Petition Letter: To Whom this Concerns,

I am requesting to drop my POLS313 course after the final deadline. I was enrolled in this course for the Fall 2022 semester. During this time I have also been dealing with extenuating circumstances concerning my disability. I have had to switch medications and start new medications, as well as complete a psych evaluation. This is currently still a work in progress, in which I hope to have finalized within the new year. Due to this, my academic performance this semester has suffered immensely. Due to my disability I struggled to have a solid daily routine, as sleep is a large issue for me. This resulted in the missing of some classes in person, in which effected my learning of the content. Through struggling with my extenuating circumstances and completing a full course load I found it quite difficult to balance the two. Due to this, I was unable to put my full effort into all of my courses and assignments. I have now realized a smaller course load would be more ideal for me in the future and the coming semesters. I feel as though my grades within POLS313 were impacted the most and as a result I am requesting to drop the course. Following this I am working with my doctors and counsellors to create a plan to deal with my extenuating circumstances from this semester. We have begun this through prescribing medication to help create a solid sleep schedule, as well as getting a psych evaluation and a blood test to further look into this and see what would be most effective to help. I am able to provide a doctors note to testify to everything stated. I have provided a document from my QSAS registration in which outlines my disability.
