Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I wish to drop Beginner's German. I have struggled with serious psychological issues and complications from my learning impairment, as well as personal struggles, which impacted my academic abilities and performance. These mental obstacles have already been well documented and acted upon scholastically and I have taken steps to improve them such as seeing a psychologist, conferring with wellness services at Queens, and consulting a learning strategist. Though I have made these strides, improvement and complete alleviation is a long, ongoing process. I battle everyday with constant fatigue, low endorphin levels, inability to focus and negative thinking. My depression and ADHD were also compounded by other personal circumstances. This course is not required or necessary for my educational path or plan, and additionally this course was formatted in a way that was not conducive to my succeeding in it. The original drop deadline was just too early for my realizing this. My struggles in these respects have been documented by contact with wellness services and my consulting with a psychologist. I hope these facts can be and considered and predicament heard and understood.
