Petition Letter: I am requesting for appeal for the BCHM315 Fall2022 course, as I feel as though due to extenuating circumstances I was unable to dedicate the deserves and necessary time to create and understanding for the course material. During the end of the first month and several weeks of the second month of the semester I got sick with originally what was a cold or the flu. During this period I was unable to attend classes because I did not want to get anyone around me sick. After about 3 weeks of the cold not going away I attended the hospital where there I was told I had pneumonia. I was treated for pneumonia and within just under two weeks I was getting worse and was told I had a lung infection. I went home so my mom and dad could take care of me and then was treated for the infection and started to feel better and more tests were completed and i at the end of the infection I had a streptococcal infection (strep throat). All during this time I was unable to attend lectures, office hours and barely was able to try to catch up because I was always exhausted. During this semester I had a heavy course load with 5 courses, 3 of which were online and I was able to catch up with. Due to the fact that all of BCHM315 was in person I found it difficult to catch up and also understand what we were learning because I had missed so much. I am also interested in what we are learning in the course which explains my Specialization in Biochemistry. I would like to be able to attend classes in good health and learn the course material so that my grade and my understanding of the course is an accurate representation of my hard work and interest in the topics.
