Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

This letter is in regards to an academic appeal for PSYC 370 of the Fall 2022 term. The professor of the course recommended that I apply for a late drop due to my mark of 12.5/50 going into the PSYC 370 final.

In the second half of the semester, unfortunately, I ended my first long-term relationship of 3.5 years and the breakup had a significant impact on my current mental health condition. I have been slowly bettering myself but this past month, my family and I have been currently dealing with a lot of financial stress to the point that I struggle on buying groceries and have been eating less than usual. I currently have academic accommodations for my condition, but I plan on updating my accessibility advisor on changes to my current accommodations.

My prospective grades in all my courses are not the greatest compared to my last year grades, but I am requesting a late drop in PSYC 370 since it is the lowest mark and taking the final worth 50% would not guarantee a pass in the course. I also had to defer two exams and plan on studying the content with a better mindset while on the break.

However, I plan on focusing on my bad habits over the break and start applying for a part-time job for next semester. I have noticed that adding a job into my routine helps me prioritize my responsibilities. I have also decided that I will be taking 4 courses instead of 5 to lessen the workload and maintain a job to support myself and my family. I have also asked my accessibility advisor to send me the resources to contact an academic advisor to go over my current academic plan. I have also started journaling again and I find that it helps me with my overthinking since I have been facing a lot of different stresses lately.

I hope you can take this letter into consideration.

Sincerely,

Princess Viernes
