Petition Letter: During the 2022 fall term I was taking organic chemistry (CHEM 281) as led by John Carran.
I submitted an exam deferral for the final exam, which was approved. I live 45 minutes from campus and there was a snow storm this day with an advisory not to drive and I have time accommodations (ADHD) meaning I would be leaving my exam around 10:30pm-11pm, arriving home around 11:30pm-12am.
Now the exam is for January 17th.
In addition to this, I have been caring for my father through lawyers and medical professionals as he has been diagnosed with dementia. I have been suffering greatly during the fall term and am trying to manage my classes to the best of my ability, alongside waiting for a sleep clinic appointment because I have been falling asleep out of no where, during the day. I am also trying to manage more frequent (biweekly) supraventricular tachycardia episodes and am in the process of getting in touch with my cardiologist.
I am trying my hardest to get organized this winter term to do well and be successful given the circumstances and having the time to begin the semester with my scheduled classes would be greatly helpful. I am trying to get back on track with a full time course load seeing as I have been taking on 4 instead of 5 courses.
I understand the deferred exam, if approved, would occur in the summer period and this would give me the time and support I need to manage the many situations I am dealing with and be as successful as I can be in this time. I have therapy coming up shortly as well to further manage these situations.
