Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To whomsoever it may concern,
I am petitioning for the extension of the deferred exam period beyond 16th January 2023.
I had to urgently head home, back to India on 12th December 2022 because my 84-year-old grandfather fell very sick. He suffered a heart attack that led to a complete heart block which required him to get a pacemaker. It did not end there, there were multiple complications that arose due to his diabetes and other health conditions that he suffers from that had to be dealt with. He was admitted in the hospital on 7th December 2022 and got discharged on 28th December 2022.
I had to head back home because I come from a very small family where my parents don??t have any siblings and hence all the responsibility falls on them because they lack any outside help and support. I took my flight out on December 12th and did appear for the Geol200 (Fall 2022) exam on 9th December 2022 and submitted all the required course work for Enin301 (Fall 2022) as well before leaving Canada.
I got back to a very critical grandfather and a sick grandmother with everyone else in distress due to the dire circumstances at home. For most of the time that I was home, I was just travelling back and forth from the hospital which is why I was unable to submit supporting documentation for the academic consideration I filled in for my absence between 12th December 2022 and 28th December 2022, thereby missing my final exam for Econ 423 (Fall 2022), Econ 231(Fall 2022) and Econ 437( Fall 2022).
I am supposed to be graduating this fall and I am worried that this will come in the way of that Things started looking better a few days back, so I booked my flight back for 15th January 2022 because on this date the tickets available were comparatively cheaper. I was unaware that the deferred exam period was between 12th January to 16th January so I will not be able to clear my exams then. My circumstances have more or less been resolved and now my parents will manage everything at home, so I am able to make a successful return to my studies for my last term at Queens?? University. I was hoping I could schedule the final exams for the courses that I missed sometime after I am back and complete them before the Winter 2023 term comes to an end. I will do everything in my power to not cause any more hassle than I have already to you or to my professors
I really hope you will consider my request. It has been a very tough time for my family and I and we are still coming to terms with a lot of things so I will appreciate all your help and understanding.
