I have carefully considered your petition to drop STAT 263 (F25) after the academic deadline and for Credit Standing in MATH 121, PHIL 251 and CISC 121 (F25). While I’m unable to grant all of these requests, I want to assure you that I’ve taken your circumstances into account in reaching this decision.
I acknowledge the health-related extenuating circumstances described in your petition and understand how they affected your courses during the final exam period in December. I appreciate the documentation you provided and am glad to hear that you are receiving appropriate support at this time.
I am able to grant your requests to drop STAT 263 (F25) after the academic deadline and for Credit Standing in MATH 112 (F25). Your final grades in these courses will be replaced with DR and CR notations on your transcript once this has been processed by the Office of the University Registrar.
With respect to your request for Credit Standing in PHIL 251 and CISC 121 (F25), Appeal and Petition Regulation 1.7.1.4 states that Credit Standing is reserved for a course in which a student who has completed all of the work of the class, including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the class, but due to illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected.
The instructor of PHIL 251 (F25) has reported that the essay worth 30% remains incomplete in this course. You are therefore not eligible for Credit Standing in this course under the applicable regulations. That said, as the documentation you provided confirms the academic impact of extenuating circumstances during the Fall 2025 term, I will allow you an opportunity to complete the outstanding essay during the current Summer term. It is your responsibility to connect with Instructor Mozersky as soon as possible if you would like to accept this opportunity.
With respect to your request for Credit Standing in CISC 121 (F25), the instructor has reported that multiple graded components remain outstanding, including Assignments 1 through 3, Quiz 1, and the Project. As such, you are not eligible for Credit Standing in this course under the applicable regulations.
If you are concerned with the impact that your final grade CISC 121 has on your cumulative GPA, I would suggest that you consider repeating it in a future term. When repeating the exact same course code, both attempts will appear on your transcript however, only the higher grade will be included within the calculation of your cumulative GPA.
Additionally, if you wish to appeal this decision, you are welcome to submit an appeal to the Board of Studies.
