Decision Letter

Appeal Number: 1527
Decision Date: November 12, 2015
Associate Dean: Sue Blake
Student Name: Alexandre Coutu
Student Email: 12ac122@queensu.ca

Dear Mr. Coutu:

I have carefully considered your request to have your appeal heard after the 21-day timeline for submission, and have decided, based on the circumstances you refer to in your letter of appeal, to waive the timeline and grant your request to drop KNPE 125, KNPE 167 and PSYC 100B (W 2014) past the academic deadline.

I would like to note that there do not appear to be any truly extenuating circumstances that prevented you from making this appeal until the present day. However, I do recognize that as a first year student you may not have been aware of the consequences of leaving these failures on your transcript at the time. I also recognize that you have recovered academically and I do not want the mistakes you made in first year to affect your chances of returning to university.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.

Yours sincerely,

Sue Blake
Assistant Dean (Studies)
